Students wishi
ng to experience an elective or ambulatory community experience, or even a job shadowing opportunity in radiation oncology during undergraduate medical studies should consider an elective in the Radiation Medicine Program (RMP) at PMH. The RMP offers outstanding clinical experiences with a wide range of programs and technologies in a collegial and supportive multidisciplinary learning environment. Weekly academic rounds, tumour boards and case conferences provide students with a glimpse into the high quality, evidence-based multidisciplinary treatments offered to patients who come to PMH. Students will be encouraged to take a hands on approach to learning and will develop their clinical skills by seeing and assessing patients with a wide variety of problems at various points along their cancer journey.
Interested students should contact Kim O'Hearn kim.ohearn@rmp.uhn.on.ca. The Department offers customized elective experiences across the spectrum of tumour types according to the educational needs of the student.
Students at the University of Toronto apply with a standardized elective application form available the University of Toronto web site. Students from outside the University of Toronto apply through the office of Sheila Binns at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. All students may discuss their interest via e-mail with either Dr. John Cho john.cho@rmp.uhn.on.ca or Kim O'Hearn.
