Cancer Survivorship Program

The Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) has initiated a Survivorship Program called “With, Through, and Beyond”. Through the generous support of the Weekend to End Breast Cancer, PMH will initiate programming for breast cancer patients in April 2005. “With, Through and Beyond” aims to counteract the sense of powerlessness that accompanies a diagnosis of cancer by supporting patients in developing the strengths and strategies to face their cancer-related problems.

The survivorship program and its partners will provide timely, comprehensive information and support to our cancer patients in a manner that maintains the patients’ dignity and involves them as much as possible in the treatment and recovery process. It will also facilitates their journey through post-treatment survivorship with the necessary support and resources.

This will be achieved though the implementation of three distinct strategies.

Education for Empowerment
Programs to help people gain mastery over their lives with cancer.

Excellence in Clinical After-Care
Programs to address the physical consequences of cancer and its treatment through research and new clinical programs.

Enhanced Community Partnerships
New collaborative partnerships form the basis of a sustainable and innovative model of care delivery.
