Advanced academic integrated practice is an innovative workplace model of professional practice implemented to improve efficiency and quality of care, enhance innovation and reduce the time it takes to implement innovation into practice.
“Advanced” refers to the development of advanced skills through expert “on the job” experience or specialized advanced skills training (Masters or Doctoral programs).
"Academic" refers to the scholarly conduct of research and education.
“Integrated” refers to the integration of academics into everyday clinical practice.
While the model has been developed fully for the radiation oncologists and physicists, it is in pilot phases of implementation for radiation therapy.
