Role of Radiation Treatment for Astrocytoma and Oligodendroglioma
Radiation therapy is eventually utilized in most patients with these tumours. Depending on the situation of individual cases, we may recommend observation or initial treatment with chemotherapy prior to utilizing radiation therapy.
Indications
Evidence of growth of brain tumours where chemotherapy is not indicated and where there has been growth of tumour while on chemotherapy.
Benefits
Most patients are likely to respond to radiation.
How to Make a Referral
Patients may be referred to one of the radiation oncologists in the Site Group either through the departmental referral process or by contacting one of the physicians directly.
