Role of Radiation Treatment for Ependymoma
Radiation is commonly recommended in most patients following surgery for this tumour. Radiation can treat residual tumours following surgery and treat adjacent areas of microscopic involvement in brain or spinal cord.
Indications
Usually recommended in most patients with residual tumour following surgery. In patients with complete removal at surgery, radiation may be delayed until there is evidence of recurrence later.
Benefits
High likelihood of cure.
How to Make a Referral
Patients may be referred to one of the radiation oncologists in the Site Group either through the departmental referral process or by contacting one of the physicians directly.
