Role of Radiation Treatment for Meningioma
Radiation is a treatment option as the initial form of treatment for a skull base tumour, and is useful for residual or recurrent tumours elsewhere in the brain where a complete surgical resection is not possible.
Indications
Radiation is indicated for patients with primary skull base tumours or residual or recurrent meningiomas when surgery is not able to achieve a complete resection.
Benefits
Long-term control rates in the range of 90%.
Special Programs
Princess Margaret Hospital offers fractionated stereotactic radiation therapy.
How to Make a Referral
Patients may be referred to one of the radiation oncologists in the Site Group either through the departmental referral process or by contacting one of the physicians directly.
